Visiting Myanmar was a treat and adventure for me. The country just recently opened its borders to tourism and has still not seen too many travelers. I was very excited to explore the heart of Buddhism in Asia and did not get disappointed.
The temples and Buddha statues are beyond impressive and the people of this country captured my heart. Friendly, welcoming and with an innocent curiosity Burmese are lovely.

International flights are mainly going into Yangon, the capital. The famous Shwedagon Pagoda is the main attraction of the city. Continuing to Bagan just a domestic flight away is breathtaking with thousands of temples to visit. I had an early morning bike ride in the plains, which was one of the highlights of the trip. Next stop was Mandalay famous for its palace and historical sights before making my way to Inle Lake. The lake has its own life in an amazing natural setting.
Food varies according to the different region of the country; rice, curries seafood, meats and of course wonderful views accompanying each meal.
